But on the track “count your blessings” he shows how he can switch into smooth soft melodic rhymes. Damian shows his skills in sticking to his lyrical flow in true RASTA style. I really feel like this partnership was for more of a choice for these artists to make a statement by displaying both of there music range. Although they did probably pull in some $$$ for the album. So i think this song really exemplifies the style that Nas and Damien both were going for. So let me just clarify that this song wasn’t the base for these thoughts yet rather it gave me the energy and desire to briefly express some thoughts that personally came to me in some personal reflection. Now for those who actually took some time to read this, you may wonder why I would think to write this simply based off one song or a part of it. So without personal thought and questioning and the desire to search for understanding more on our own we’ll continue to lose the ability to grow as individuals and for a better and more positive future as a whole. Most people, including myself, don’t think this is the case for them but believe it, with how obsessed and addicted people have become to the internet and media it unfortunately has. Call me crazy, call me what you may but I honestly hear the types of things these two are saying and I can’t help but entertain the thought that it truly isn’t good that we as a people have genuinely become so mentally lazy that we listen and believe consciously and, more so, subconsciously the things we are told and see through media.

With all of our societies and medias onslaught of superficial and empty ideas and desires, we have forgot to question what we are told and to find answers and truths on our own. “The average man can’t prove of most of the things that he chooses to speak ofĪnd still won’t research and find out the root of the truth that you seek of” The two of them take to this mellow and funky beat on their track Patienc e and bring to light questions that far to many people don’t entertain enough these days. Nas’s lyricism and flow is irrefutably genius and although I don’t know much about Damian, seeing who is father was and still is I think its easy to say his stye of lyricism in also real. The more I listen to Damian and Nas I can’t help but appreciate their music together for some new music with some meaning. For me I see it as two musicians that regardless of genre are similar in styles and personal outlooks yet in their own unique ways. What makes a collaboration between two artists genuinely real and not just a popularity money driven deal? It’s probably something unique to everyone and their opinions and choices of what they define as good music or lyricism.
